Hello world!

Published on April 16, 2012 by in Uncategorized

For those of you whom ended up here as a result of dead links to my blog, I apologize, the posts you’re looking for no longer exist but it’s not entirely my fault. For almost a decade, and despite somewhat regularly downtime; I have hosted my website with Australian based small hosting company deasoft. For most of that time, with the exception of the downtime I haven’t really had any problems, customer service was always good. But last month that all changed. Suddenly, and inexplicably even though all my invoices were paid in full, and without signs of hackers, my passwords for my whm & individual cpanel accounts stopped working.

Needing to make a number of changes to business websites, including contact information changes, I naturally submitted a support ticket, set it to medium priority and waited. A week later, the only response I got was in the form of the new bill for that month. Replying to the invoice asking for help with my issue, I received no response. In total, after a month of attempted contact through direct email & support tickets (there is no phone number), and explaining I had no intention of paying my bill until I had acknowledgement of receipt of my issue, there was no reply.

So I informed them of a date they had to reply by before I would terminate my customage with deasoft and find someone else. I reached that date without reply and signed up with a new host provider. An hour later, guess who finally replied? And after all that it wasn’t even a nice reply, let alone apologetic. If anything it was accusatory, that after so many years with them paying my bills on time, that I would try to get a month free hosting before skipping out on my bill, even though all I’d asked for was for a response stating they had received my issue. O_o

Having just started the provision process to redirect my domains to the new host, I promptly told deasoft where they could shove their account. Having still not had access to my account I was unable to backup my blog and so here we are, I’m left starting from scratch and you’re left with a dead link. But, in truth it’s not all bad, fresh starts have a way of being a good thing. Chances are if what you’re looking thing mattered to me I’ll write a new blog entry about it in no time anyway, and hey if I do it’ll be more up to date now won’t it. See, see.. silver lining.

Oh and if you’ve just stumbled on this blog, not looking for anything in particular. Hello, I hope you enjoy the journey that is about to start.
